Jeanefer Jean-Charles
Jeanefer Jean-Charles is fast establishing herself as a national figure. In 2006 she choreographed the world record-breaking Big Dance for BBC TV in partnership with the Arts Council and the Mayor’s office. Her acclaimed work Rosa Moments - 2007, produced by State of Emergency successfully toured the UK including Stratford Circus for East London Dance. Her work was also well received at the Beijing Cultural Olympic Festival in 2007 with young people from London’s Kinetika Carnival Company and for the unveiling of Mandela’s Statue on Parliament Square.
Jeanefer has been awarded a Rayne Fellowship which has allowed her to develop her new boys project Lads & Dads Move! Prodcued by State of Emergency Its A Boy Jeanefer's first Lads & Dads Move! commission is now touring the UK.
Jeanefer’s choreographic reputation has reaped exciting projects – from Parent Trap - Walt Disney Film, the Young Vic’s A Raisin in the Sun, The Posse’s Pinchy Kobi & Rent Money- Theatre Royal Stratford, Jack and the Beanstalk - Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch, Theatre Centre’s A Spell of Cold Weather, Joshua's Egg and Journey to the River Sea – to regular commissions with the British Ski Ballet Team for the Olympic Games ‘92 and the National and International Ice Skating Associations (1990-2004).
Co-founder of Bullies Ballerinas Jazz Productions (1990-2000), Jeanefer directed, produced and performed in Jazz Umbrella, Rhythm Circus, and Barefeet & Crazy Legs touring nationally and internationally under the auspices of the British Council and other prestigious arts sponsors. Her work has been staged in Italy, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Namibia, Mozambique and South Africa.
